The key objective of Pasa la Voz is: stimulating knowledge development and strengthen the self-esteem of the kids and their tutors through alternative techniques in the field of complementary (informal) education, in order to contribute substantially to improving the situation kids from the Peruvian province Cusco in the area of formation, education, empowerment and future employment.
Other objectives of Pasa la Voz are:
- Stimulating self-confidence and mentality changes within the kids (being able to incite changes, make decisions, empowerment);
- Stimulating a positive image-forming of working kids (working kids are a great potential);
- Enhancing skills of children that offer them chances for better employment (capacity building of the kids);
- Contributing to suitable work for kids (good working conditions);
- Enhancing educational and managerial skills of the tutors (capacity building of tutors);
- Creating a network that unites several projects (stimulating cooperation).
How do we obtain our objectives:
- We organize creative and practical workshops for kids of organizations from our network;
- We publish a kids street magazine every three months (two editions: English – Spanish and Dutch) made completely by the kids themselves;
- We produce video documentaries and audio visual material, made completely by the kids themselves;
- In the kids museum the work done by the kids and organization from the network is displayed and sold here.
- We want to create alternative and dignified work by introducing a network of street vendors to sell the Pasa la Voz kids street magazine ;
- We offer resources and infrastructure so that a network of social organizations who focus on kids can function and flourish;
- We organize capacity building for staff from organizations from the network;
- We offer free use of internet and a library for kids and adults
Art classes have a positive influence on kids. With kids at-risk art classes contribute to:
- Higher level of self confidence;
- improved occupational skills;
- the development of creative thinking.
