Capacity building

Course for local organizationsCusco has many initiatives that do important and valuable work for underprivileged and/or neglected kids. They offer these kids for example meals or even a roof over their heads. Other projects organize after school programs, courses and workshops and help with the kids´ homework. These are usually small organizations that can identify the needs of these underprivileged kids, but they often lack the financial means to effectively take on the problems that these kids have. Also, the staff often has little access to schooling or other means of professionalizing, since these institutions are usually located in Lima.

Pasa la Voz is convinced of the necessity to decentralize information, since synergy can be accomplished when people work together. Therefore, Pasa la Voz formed a network with existing local organizations. The Pasa la Voz network currently exist of12 local organizations. Pasa la Voz offers its network an open arena to meet each other, exchange experiences, find solutions for common problems and share information and materials. Every month all 12 organizations come together and educate themselves and each other with the common goal of building a better environment for kids.

Pasa la Voz does not offer financial aid or infrastructure to the network, but sheCourse mathemetics supports their activities through capacity building, offering courses, knowledge exchange and free psychological and medical help. Pasa la Voz also offers the network the use of her infrastructure, such as meeting rooms, use of internet and a library with books, games and other material. Pasa la Voz will assist and advise the organizations on attracting (international) funds and developing their own communication tools, such as a website, video or other publications.

Requested by the network, Pasa la Voz has organized the following courses: pedagogical methods to stimulate creativity in kids, comprehensive reading, handling conflicts, realistic calculus, sexual education, designing and working out projects and strategic planning and monitoring.
